Pleasant words

Numbers 11:1, “And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled.” Functional MRI studies demonstrated the effects of complaining on the brain! “Negative words actually rewire your brain, stimulating the areas of the brain associated with perceptions and cognitive functioning…. Thus constant exposure to complaints (yours and others) will reinforce negative thinking and behavior.” This complaining shows a lack of confidence in God’s leading. But we can retrain our brains to be more positive by making a conscious effort to limit our complaining and the time we spend with chronic complainers. We must control our thoughts and find other ways to react to events besides complaining. Thus we will have better thoughts and better health. Remember, words follow thoughts and thoughts follow words. (Vibrant Life Health Magazine, Nov/Dec. 2012, page 5)
