When trying to loose weight, eating a diet high in fruits, grains and vegetables helps curb your appetite, and assists in loosing weight. A study from the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Pennsylvania State University, randomly assigned 97 obese women to either a reduced fat diet or a reduced fat, high-water content food diet in the form of high fruits and vegetables. After 1 year both groups loss weight but the pattern of weight loss was different; with the reduced fat, high-water content food group experienced less hunger and a greater weight loss by an average of 3-4 pounds. The researchers concluded that, “Reducing dietary energy density, (eating food with more fiber and less calories) particularly by combining increased fruit and vegetable intakes with decreased fat intake, is an effective strategy for managing body weight while controlling hunger.” (words in italics added) So if you are one of the millions in the U.S struggling with weight, why not give it a try! Eat at least 5-10 servings of fruits and vegetables each day, reduce your intake of fatty and processed foods, exercise daily and ask God for His blessings and watch wonderful things happen and the pounds evaporate!
