A Vitamin that Helps Prevent Colon & Rectal Cancer!

“In one of the largest studies to date on Vitamin B-6 and colon health, people with the highest intake of the vitamin — from food and supplements — reduced their risk of colorectal cancer by 20 to 30 percent. And this study is just one of many showing a benefit. Researchers suspect that B6’s role in the metabolism of folate — another colon-friendly B vitamin — might explain the protective effects. Each of us should get at least 3.7mg of Vitamin B-6 every day!

Cereals (such as) Total Raisin Bran (1 cup) – 2.0 mg

Kellogg’s Special K (1 cup) – 1.9 mg

Potato, baked, with skin (1 medium) – 0.6 mg

Chickpeas, canned (1/2 cup) – 0.5 mg

Banana (1 medium) – 0.4 mg

Broccoli, boiled (1 cup) – 0.3 mg

Sunflower seeds (1/4 cup) – 0.2 mg

Tomato sauce, canned (1/2 cup) – 0.1 mg

Carrots, raw (1 cup) – 0.1 mg

So for better health, make sure you are getting enough Vitamin B-6 every day! (Source: REALAGE.COM — November 20, 2008)
