I’m sure you have heard that we should eat 5-6 small meals each day. In one of my medical journals, an article on diabetic gastroparesis advised, “eat smaller meals more ofter.” (American Family Physician, June 15, 2008) Eating small frequent meals does not give the digestive system time to handle the food introduced thus leading to more stomach fullness, bloating and reflux than eating two good meals each day. It’s interesting that when God used ravens to feed the prophet Elijah, He only sent them two times a day. When the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, they only ate two meals per day. (See Exodus 16:8 & 1 Kings 17:6) So if the Creator fed His children this way, then know, it’s the best way! “After disposing of one meal, the digestive organs need rest. At least five or six hours should intervene between the meals; and most persons who give the plan a trial, will find that two meals a day are better than three.” (Counsel on Diet & Foods 173.4) So why not give it a try and see how much better you do.
