Do you remember all the hype and press given to high protein diets in the past; and how all carbohydrates were bad? Well, after former U.S. president Bill Clinton had his heart attack while on one of these diets, the ads and press changed. You rarely hear anything about a high protein-low carb diet anymore. Its hard for me to see how any Seventh-day Adventists could embrace such a program because everything in the original diet contained carbohydrates. Now a study done at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, and reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology, February 15; 2005 reveals:
“Total amount of carbohydrate is not related to body weight. It’s the type of carbohydrate that’s important” states Dr. Yunsheng Ma. Obesity in their study was due to the type of carbohydrates eaten, those refined products we spoke of in last week’s pearl. So don’t be deceived, man has never known better than God. So eat those “good carbs” that God gave in the beginning and “Watch God Work” as you peal off the pounds.
