School time is almost here! If you would like to increase the probability of your children or yourself succeeding, it is very important for each one to get a good breakfast every day. The benefits of eating a good breakfast every day are legion but let’s take a look at what it does for children and adults in relationship to learning.
In August of 1995, the Pediatrics Department at the University of California at Davis hosted a number of psychologists, neuroscientists, nutritionists, and physiologists to review the scientific studies on breakfast. The researchers concluded that the “eating of breakfast is important to learning, memory, and physical well-being in both children and adults.” Good breakfast habits are essential for maximum efficiency, both mental and physical, particularly during the late morning hours. Breakfast eaters demonstrate better attitudes and improved scholastic performance.
So make sure you and your loved ones get a good breakfast every day, and don’t depend on the school lunch program or a local restaurant; they are not best. A good breakfast will start with a whole grain cereal and preferably soymilk, several servings of fruit (fresh, frozen, dried or canned in juice), whole grain toast and maybe a cup of juice. This will help to jump-start your day, improving the chance of success all day long!
Remember, the most important meal of the day is breakfast!
