“You’ve cut down on fat and reduced your desserts, and still you can’t seem to lose — or even maintain — weight. Chances are, like most Americans, you’re suffering from what dietitians call ‘portion distortion.’” (HealthDay News, 10/2/05) Studies show that the average serving sizes have continued to enlarge over the years, as have our waistlines. You may be old enough to remember when a 6 oz soft drink was all you drank. Now 32 oz containers are used.
Therefore to be successful in loosing and maintaining weight loss we must reduce the quantity of food eaten, even if it’s of the best quality. God’s messenger to His church writes, “Overeating, even of the most wholesome food, is to be guarded against. Nature can use no more than is required for building up the various organs of the body, and excess clogs the system.” (2MCP 388) This week reduce your food intake by not going back for second helpings. Eat only what’s on you plate, chew slowly and “Watch God work!” Circle those items that you practice this week
