During the month of October, we will focus on the big “O,” OPTIMISM.
Optimism is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as “having hopefulness and confidence about the future or successful outcome of something; a tendency to take a favorable or hopeful view.” It is derived from the Latin word optimum, meaning “best.” Optimism ultimately means expecting the best possible outcome in any given situation.” A synonym for optimism is hope.
The Word of God instructs us in Psalms 42:11 that we have hope! “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” During the rest of October, we will look at the benefits of optimism or hope. But why wait, start today by choosing to be optimistic.
When negative thoughts come, whisper a prayer, look on the bright side and see the glass half full rather, than half empty!
