Shortcuts to Ill-Health #3

I am constantly asked, “doc, what can I take for this problem I am having?” It is natural to seek relief from physical illness and pain. But in the vast majority of cases, this only addresses the symptoms and not the problem. The chronic diseases that we suffer from are largely due to lifestyle and any approach to these diseases that does not address the lifestyle is a shortcut to ill-health. Getting as close to the Edenic lifestyle as possible: exercising, drinking plenty of water, following a healthful vegetarian diet, getting adequate rest and sunshine, being temperate in all things and trusting in God are the things that lead to optimal health. Taking herbs, medications, vitamin and mineral supplements, and any other natural or unnatural product will not be as beneficial as addressing the lifestyle. So why waste time and effort taking these shortcuts, when God’s way leads to optimal health! Remember, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8, 9)
