Biblically, when someone was sick from an infectious illness they were isolated as not to infect others. That is a good practice to follow when it comes to the flu! Influenza kills 41,000 people in the US annually. And with all the publicity given to swine flu it is very easy to forget the small things that can assist you in avoiding this potentially deadly illness or contracting it. Having a sick person cough on you is the easiest way of contracting this illness. It is important to avoid sick persons whenever possible. The second easiest way to get swine flu is touching an object contaminated by the influenza virus then touching your nose, mouth or eyes with contaminated hands. Simple hand washing or the use of an alcohol based hand sanitizer is an easy way to reduce the chance of contracting this illness. And should you come down with the flu, stay home drink plenty of water and juices and use simple remedies like, Echinacea and red clover tea, contrast showers, and hot tub baths to assist your body in fighting this illness! So make sure you avoid those that are sick when possible and wash your hands regularly! (WebMD, September 18, 2009)
