In two studies reported in Making Healthy Choices August 2011 Newsletter, it was reported that moderate physical exercise reduces the recurrence of prostate cancer in men treated for early prostate cancer by 57%. To be beneficial you must walk at a speed of a least 3 mph or walk a mile in 20 minutes or less.
The studies were done at University of California and Harvard University with over 15,000 men studied. “Walking, in all cases where it is possible, is the best remedy for diseased bodies, because in this exercise all the organs of the body are brought into use. Many who depend upon the movement cure could accomplish more for themselves by muscular exercise than the movements can do for them.” 3T. 78. [The movement cure was a non-scientific practice adopted by doctors in the 1800’s in which the doctor passively moves different parts of the body to bring about cures of diseases.]
